REENACT-SA

WHO IS REENACT-SA?

Reenact-SA is a group of South Australian WW2 Living Historians from various “Living History” groups, who have banded together in order to promote historical reenactment in South Australia. Our Primary interest (or “impression” as is known in living history circles) is the North African and Mediterranean campaigns of World War Two. Members are encouraged to portray a soldier from these campaigns. This includes German Afrika Korps and Fallschirmjäger (Paratroopers), Australian 9th Division (2/48th), British 8th Army, or Tropical Italian troops.

Continental (Wool Uniforms), are suitable for Italian, Sicily and Crete campaigns, ie: Wool Fallschirmjager, Wehrmacht, and Australian or British kit.

WHAT IF I’D LIKE REENACT BUT I DON’T HAVE THE UNIFORM ETC?

Unlike other WW2 reenacting organizations, this isn’t a problem. There is a very large social component to this group. We are all about promoting this hobby in SA, not alienating people. Most of our activities include BBQ’s and Living History training days (ie: Safe handling of Firearms, WW2 tactics, authentic camp routine, etc). We also attend events such as Military Fairs and Air Shows in an educational and recruitment capacity. Weekend “period dress” camp-outs are also on our agenda. For the licensed Firearms members, we also organize “Firing Range” days in Period Uniforms. If you don’t have a uniform or kit, loaner gear is available, however, you will soon want to pick up your own gear as time goes on. If you do own a WW2 uniform and kit, but it’s American, or British, or Russian etc, that’s alright as well. Your impression, which isn’t our primary focus doesn’t matter, as long as it's WW2. The mixture of nationalities widens our scope for education and the promotion of WW2 reenacting here in SA, and you will be welcomed.

IS REENACT-SA A LIVING HISTORY ORGANISATION?

Yes, Reenacting-SA is currently affiliated with the Australian Living History Federation (ALHF). This gives us Public Liability insurance for up to 20 million dollars, as well as a smaller accident policy for members.

WHO IS THE AHLF?

The AHLF is the organizing and insurance body of all Living History organizations in Australia, from Roman Legionnaires’, American Civil War all the way through to Vietnam War reenactors.

SO WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP THEN?

The requirements for membership are simple.

Reenact-SA does not support, in any way, those who would condone or embrace individuals, groups and/or organizations that are intolerant, racist or violent. We do not support or endorse those that use the theme of WWII history to further their own political agenda.

If you do not agree with the above statement, then you will not be welcomed in the world of WW2 reenacting.

A keen interest and a desire to research and present the common soldier of World War II (the purpose of “reenacting” battles is not to glorify war, but rather to educate) and to share, with like minded individuals, camaraderie, friendship, and getting dressed up and having some fun here in SA.

If the above statement rings true to you, then you are welcome.

You must be a “fit and proper person” (This will be a statement which you will be required to sign on the application).

A $5 yearly fee is required to run the club. For Insurance, AHLF membership is also required at $25 per year. All members currently holding insurance through another club will only need to pay the $5 per year fee.
