We are looking into producing some Italian Tropical Uniforms. One of our members has patterns and has purchased some suitable fabric. I have sewing experience so will be assisting.

David and Dan have some Ammo pouches, Helmets and Caps.

If you are interested in having a uniform made in your size, put your hand up,

The club owns 2 or 3 Carcano rifles.

Wow, thats a great set of pics. You will be fully supported if you go ahead with an Italian impression (we need the Italians desperately).

This is a good place to get Italian Uniforms.

I have purchased German stuff from this dealer and it is top quality.

Just out of interest, what about Black Shirt units? There were several Colonial Blackshirt Units. Admittedly they were pretty much wiped out by the end of the Campaign, but they fall within our operational area.

No, although I really do like the Facist Symbol that they stole from the Romans. Personally I find the Facists alot less sinister than the SS, and I find Facist Colonial Units even less sinister (rightly or wrongly). I look at the Colonial Blackshirts more as patriotic than fanatics (am I wrong on this?).

I just thought that I'd point out that they were operational during the period that we're doing for North Africa, and thought that they might make for an interesting impression.

Though I'd like to do Italian at some stage, abject poverty prevents me for the immediate future.

Blackshirts would certainly be interesting!

The only problem is that they were political militia and that can be hard to explain to the public when we are presenting a non-political stance as a group.

I have noticed that a lot of people that lived through that era generally don't have a problem with re-enactors as regular combat troops, but don't like seeing political troops such as Waffen-SS, NKVD, or Blackshirts.

I tend to agree Brad.

Let's stick to the combat units for our public shows.

As always, anything goes for our "in house" get togethers.

Fair enough, I just had a vague idea of being a Colonial Blackshirt and dying for Mussolini at every single event that I go to as Axis!

Well someone has to be amongst the thousand Italian dead so that he can sit at the conference table...

Good evening gentlemen.

I am Turi\Russell from AGS in Brisbane and I am the subunit leader of the Italian group.

I have been following this tread and I am pleased to see others looking at creating Italian impressions.

My main reason responding here is we are also on a quest to find the right size Pith Helmets.

I see you have found a source and after you have met your groups needs I would like to see if your supplier can also help us.

We need 4 x sizes 58\59

Grazie
Turi

Turi. thanks for posting. We keep this forum open for this very reason- to encourage discussion and inter club relationships.

I probably saw you at HA07 if you were there (I was one of the visiting Krauts from SA with my son (In medic gear).

Thanks Dave and Andy,

It is always good to get a lead on any hard to find kit and Pith Helmets certainly are hard to find.

Hi Andy, yes I do remember meeting you both at HA. A great weekend but for the rain.

Ciao
Russ

Id definitely do an Italian impression too! That means I dont have to shave! ha-ha!! And I know how to cook a mean bolognase...David and I have already discussed our culinary tastes...heh-heh.

As David mentioned I too suffer from abject poverty at the moment and I still have to get my DAK impression and some more field equipment before I take on other impressions....but I have a while to get it together...

57 is too small for me anyway. I'd need a 59-60.
