Does anybody know of a good value supplier for reproduction WW2 German LW (or Heer etc) rucksacks or Tornisters? I am having problems finding reproductions. Most are originals (that I am not after as i want to use it, and you pay extra for originals).

I may have found one site. are they any good?
http://stores.shop.ebay.com.sg/worldwar2-militaria

They may have a nice rucksack and Tornister?

I have 2 original rucksacks and a tornister... Id only really have to replace the leather straps on one of them, other than that, theyre in pretty good nick. I just went through eBay.de and got mine, or eBay.com there are a couple of LW pioneer rucksacks on there at the moment....Dan did tell me to watch the stitching on the originals...as being over 70 years old, they may give up the ghost...so far so good.

I guess i would have to look at the relative costs. Some originals are very cheap. however it sounds like it would need some fixing which with cost something.

case be case, item by item by the looks of things. keep your eyes out guys if you can.

That ebay seller is fine.

Yes, it would be cheaper to get a real one from 1944 militaria on the web (possibly), or from Ebay.de

It's only a matter of time before.... SNAP! I learnt the hard way. Ps. If anyone knows the size of the artillery rucksack, it looks the right profile to fit my gas gear in. I have seen reproductions of the tornister and the artillery rucksack before

I agree. Brendon was extremely fortunate to recover his lost item.
If you are using your gear in the field, it is better to have a reproduction, then it doesn't matter if it gets trashed. Most original gear is becoming too fragile to use in the field, especially in simulated combat. As Brad says, it is a shame to damage original militaria.
I think these look fine. I will probably get one myself.

I agree and disagree. I bought this stuff to use. I agree that all repro stuff should be used in the field. I dont carry my rucksack on the field, its just to get my gear from A to B. Things like belts and straps should be repro. But my rucksacks arent for looking pretty at the reenactors convention. Nor are they dust collectors in my already overfilled house, they are functional. Its not hard to reinforce stitching. My zwei pfennig. :D

I am ready to get one of these
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

or one of these
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0137505567

the only problem is the postage. $50US for one Tornister! is anybody else up for one of the above two to bring the per unit postage cost down? I am asking the ebay store now what to postage would be for two Tornisters, or one Tornister and one artillery rucksack.

I think the arty one will fold up much smaller than the other one. Also, it would be lighter. I think the postage is probably correct.
