Hi All,

Once again, this is an open invitation to all club members who have not either emailed me their postal addresses for invitations or replied to the group email I sent out some time ago.

I am holding my 40th birthday celebrations on January 31st at my house from 1900 onwards. The theme is "1940" and it is fancy dress. So that means whatever impression you favour from WW2, you can wear it! It is not club rank specific, so you can come as a private or general, whatever floats your boat.

Guests will be taken back in time to that wonderful era where big-band, swing and jazz was the music of the time. There will be light finger food and soft drinks provided. As I am a non-drinker people will need to bring their own alcohol.

Club members are more than welcome to bring their partners, but remember to do some research on what was worn by civilians during the 40's. Plenty of costume shops supply 1940's costumes. Guest members to the club are welcome to attend as well, but 1940's dress is required.

Please email me for more details.

We can start the club meeting at 5pm (1700 hours) if you guys like, before the throng arrive at 1900. I will be setting up the area from 10am onwards that morning. So it all should be ready to go for the night.

Just a note: if anyone in the club can supply some "props" to have around the backyard for the night that would be awesome.

Sounds good. I will send out a group e-mail letting everyone know when and the address of the meeting.

Andy.

It would seem that some people in the club have either forgotten basic people skills or how to email or a bunch of other things, but I have not heard back from some members whether:

A). they are coming to the party
or
B). they are not coming to the party

It doesnt take much to let someone know either way. but no answer at all is to me, downright rude and insulting. If I go to the trouble of inviting people, the least anyone who was invited can do is RSVP. I have sent group emails and posted here and most of the group have replied, which is good. But there is a few who havent said anything. There are some who will remian nameless at this point, but to those of you with the good sense and manners to reply, this rant isnt aimed at you at all.
Sorry folks, where I come from manners mean more than indifference. Action speaks louder than words, inaction speaks even louder.

*POST SCRIPT: After reading back over this frothing, I must apologise to those who have in some way said yay or nay to the day and night, its not a problem to me either way, but I do have issues with politeness and simple basic manners and people skills. I could be wrong in this feeling and I cerainly hope I am, but it would appear to me, being the FNG, that some people within the group feel that they are "better" than others due to the length of time they have been reenacting or in the hobby itself. Sorry to rain on your parade if that is so, but to me we are all equal and we all sit down to do our business. Common courtesy never costs anything other than a few seconds of time and it lets me know what amount of supplies I need for the event.

No problems Dave, you did let me know ages ago, which is most polite of you. And I, like the rest of the group would definitely understand if you cant make it, but I hope you can!

I don't think Brendan can make it to the party but will be there earlier for the meeting.

No problems, he did let me know a while back that he may not be there due to his best mate's 21st. Which is cool. Obviously it would be good to have the whole gruppe there, but I understand completely if folks cant make it due to other commitments. As mentioned above, its more about the catering side of it too.
