What a fantastic read! Mein Gott! Speer gives an enthralling detailed account to the rise and subsequent fall of Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich. I am convinced that Hitler, if alive today wouldve been diagnosed with many issues... ADHD, Aspergers, Autism and a bunch of other things including latent schizophrenia. The man was a cultural vacuum...empty. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time... or if you so wish: The Wrong place at the Wrong time! The only thing Hitler had going for him was Charisma and not much else. What surprises me is the total lack of testicular fortitude amongst the Generals and Chiefs of Staff, who in their right minds wouldve unshackled themselves from this "Bohemian Corporal".
An awesome read from start to finish, Speer wrote this after the Nuremburg Trials in his prison cell which he occupied for 20 years of his life. Easy to read and stunning in its detail (it takes an artist to articulate!!) and I came away with more knowledge than I had before, of course at my age learning new stuff pushes other stuff out of my head...so I can no longer make sandwiches.

Whats wrong with eating Nutella straight from the jar anyway??

blitzcraig.

I read it last year, it was a real page turner. Picked up a copy from the salvation army shop for $7.

Sounds like a good read. You know, we should bring books to meetings so we can swap them around. I've got a book written by Hitler's secretary if anyone wants to borrow

Albert Speer touches a little on that as well. Im reading "Heinz Guderian - Panzer Leader" right now, also a good read. Theyve only got to Poland now (1939) where Im up to and already Guderian has noticed the subtle changes in Hitler....a sign of the horror to come....
