Okay, in order to use this new camp stove that I have bought I need to use a WW2 US Jerry can, otherwise the attachment will not mesh. Modern Aussie Jerry Cans are the German style and are incompatible.

I have found two US ones on e-bay, but they are both in the US and the postage is US$83 & US$60 respectively. Does anyone know where I can get one in Australia?

I have a sinking feeling I'm going to have to buy the US one on ebay.

Dave,

As discussed on the phone, talk to Doug and see if we can borrow one until we find a local one.

Andy

Sadly Doug did not provide us with an e-mail address. I'll try and call him tomorrow.

Never got the chance to call Doug. Got onto a South Aussie guy today, but he wants $120 for his, and says they're somewhere out in the country and he doesn't know when he'll bring them back to Adelaide. It may just be cheaper and easier to buy one from the US and pay the shipping to Australia.

I asked Don Vallis, and I am told that he would be willing to loan one, but has none for sale. I'm not having much luck finding one to buy. I was particularly disheartened to learn that this South Aussie guy was charging more than some of the ones in the US with postage. At least the US ones are rather cheap, and it's the post office making all the profit.

It looks like I'll buy one from this South Aussie guy for $120. I should have it Thursday.

People better turn up to the Penola/Nangawarry event, as I've now spent $600 on the field stove, kero, jerrys, etc, and $300 on rations thus far.

I am keeping this figure very secret from my wife...
