Hi Tony,

Yes, I'm trying to organise the RSA vehicle owners to meet up with the Geelong guys on the ferry. We will discuss this next meeting.

The Midlands Military Meet and Rendezvous

28th and 29th November 2008

Campbell Town Showground

NEWSLETTER No 3

14 August 2009

Since the last newsletter there has been some major developments which
indicate the growing interest in the event for 2009.

The web site has received much favorable comment and is certainly
proving to be a very good method of promoting our event.

To date we have received advice that the below will be participating,

Recruiting, Other units are considering in light of Defence Department
budget cuts

Governor of Tasmania

Gun crew and Drill Team)

including a British light tank)

· New Town Antiques

· Bells Parade Antiques

· Members of the Australian Cartridge Collectors Association

· Defence Reserves Support Council

The Tasmanian Reserve Forces Day Council have as mentioned in the
previous newsletter given the event much support and through their good
will have been able to obtain the attendance of,

His Excellency,

Governor Peter Underwood

And his wife

The Governor will open the event and from discussions with him, it is
clear that he is looking forward to attending.

We are planning on the Governor arriving at 10am on Sat 28^th and
inspecting the Guard of Honour and then the assembled re enactors behind
the Guard. He will then have Morning Tea and return to the Arena for the
11am Brallos Pass event after which he will wander around the grounds.

*Format of Outside and Arena activities*

* *

Due to the number of entries received and to improve spectator
involvement their will be two arenas (large and small) to cater for the
more intimate demonstrations and the demonstrations that require more
space. Activities on the arena will alternate with a break between to
allow spectators to visit the pavilion displays as well.

Our Arena manage requires from all participants providing action
demonstrations the following,

* Name of Organisation
* Small or large arena required
* How long to set up
* Time frame of event

This information can be provided through the website and *IT WOULD BE
APPRECIATED IF THIS IS DONE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE*

Around the arena will be various living history sites and military vehicles.

*Major Arena Event*

* *

* *

The Major Arena Event will be a battle scene depicting the Australian
defense of the Brallos Pass in April of 1941. This will involve members
of several of the living history groups above.

*Dance*

* *

* *

* *

* *

The very well received dance organized by the Ross Township is back on
the program as well. The community have arranged for a bus to transport
to and from the event to Ross ($10) and the tickets (which include
supper) are $25 each. The Swing band has also been booked and if the
last dance is any indication it will be a great night. The Organizers
are also contributing a prize for the best period dressed participants.

*FIREARMS *

Tasmania Police Firearms Services have advised,

* Individuals* All participants using firearms (use means blank
firing/carry in public/drill team etc.) will need to provide the MMMR
Management Committee with details (Name/Address/ Licence No./ Firearm
type. serial No.) and I will submit a spread sheet for exemptions. Want
to achieve by October 09

* Dealers * Tas Dealers will need to seek approval to operate off
premise from Firearms Services.

Mainland Dealers will need to get approval from their Firearms Services
to operate of premises but any transactions at MMM&R WILL BE through a
local Dealers Book.
