Well, typing this with Luke sitting on my lap has seen him manage to delete this post once mid write already! Second try.

Last night Chris gave me a call to discuss Jamestown planning. Unfortunately I was playing BF2 online & LAN with a mate, so was a bit distracted. However, we discussed rations & a couple of other aspects.

Firstly Chris asked about what period rations we have left after Nangwarry. I never drew my canned rations, so current stocks are:

x6 Soviet Smoked Sprats
x5 Wehrmacht Steak & mushroom
x5 Il Duce Spag bol

We also have in non-period labels:

x9 large cans of baked beans
x12 cans of spam

(I believe many members who attended Nangwarry may have left over ration cans as well.)

I recall it being said that there would be no end of food vendors present at this event, so we need to decide what we are going to do here. We can hand out a can each for lunches or such. I am happy to use my tripod and big pot to perhaps make a stew one night with the beans and spam. Or we can just buy food from the vendors and eat it from our mess kits (captured Yank rations for the Axis?). I'm sure that Craig would be able to asist me in rebadging rations cans if we opt to go that route.

In any event we have some options here.

Can we post the dates here as well, so that we're all on the same page? I'm presently not sure of the exact dates, just October.

Other issues:

- Apparrently the organisers have had second thoughts on the German sweep of the town looking for Allied troops, and now want to do it the other way around. Allied troops sweeping the town and flushing out German troops. This is doable, but may require people to bring two impressions so that we have enough of the right type of troops for our various scenarios.

- We need to try and confirm the vehicles attending. From memory Fort Eden has committed a truck and a jeep with the possibility of of another truck and a jeep. I believe that Doug plans to bring his vehicle. Others?

- Military Convoy to Jamestown. It was proposed for as many of us possible to RV at Fort Eden, leave our cars there, and go down in uniform as a military convoy. Those doing this would be expected to be on best behaviour, pay some money towards petrol costs, etc. The more of us who do this, the greater possibility of additional vehicles. (Was Jamestown discussed further with Don at the big BBQ Day?) I am very keen to do this, as it'd be great fun, and we could possibly use it as good PR/recruiting. (Talk to that SA promotion program?)

- Chris has asked me about writing the scenario orders as per Nangwarry. I am happy to do this, but this event is going to be highly scripted, and I'll need lots more information about what the organisers want us to do, and a map, before I can try to do this. Perhaps best if Chris and I sit down and do this together.

Lots to discuss here folks.

Jamestown Airshow 17th-18th October

France 1944 themed event.

Hi all. Just wondering if you can indicate your intention to attend (or not attend) the airshow. Although the theme of the event is 1944 France, anyone who hasn't a suitable impression would still have plenty of fun up there with a static display (or a great oppurtunity to take photo's and watch the tank battle and V1 Rocket blowing up. An extra plus is the Dance in the Town Hall on Saturday Night! :) All impressions from all WW2 theatres are welcome to come along and enjoy the fun.

If girlfriends, or partners are coming....how about considering finding some period 1940's type civilian attire to wear up there (eg. Hats, Summer dresses, etc)? A chance for the girls to get involved on the Saturday, and would look GREAT at the Dance on Saturday Night ;) This would also look great if any of the Girls want to come up in the period vehicles convoying up.

One thing to consider for all you Germans, this is an "Air" show at an airfield, Fallschirmjager impressions (if you have one) will go over extremely well for the event.

I need your impression listed if you are confirming.
So far, I only have the following confirmed attendees on paper:

Andy - US 1st Div Infantry
Parker - US 1st Div Infantry
John P. - US 1st Div Infantry
John J. - US 1st Div Infantry (possibly with Dodge Weapons carrier)
David S. - US infantry or Airbourne
Gene N. - British 8th Army.
Aaron M. -British N.Z Army
Brendon - German, Heer
Craig - German, Heer
Chris - German, Heer
Robert Z (new member) German, Heer
Achmed (New member) German, Heer
Darryl - Fallschirmjager
Doug - Fallschirmjager (with German Styr Command car replica. Also BMW & sidecar combo).
David Lean - Fallschirmjager (with BMW & sidecar combo).
Andrew T- Australian Tropical (with Blitz Radio Truck). Not participating in scenario

Unconfirmed:

Paul (CHS) -US 1st Div Infantry
Mick (CHS) - German, Heer
Brad - German Heer (with BMW & sidecar combo replica).
Steves (CHS) -British Army
Richard H - Russian
Teal- Russian
Dan G- British NZ army

Can you bring both or is it too much trouble? If you just bring one, 82nd airbourne would be best so you can be an MP when we are not battling.

True, but having an odd 82nd AB wouldn't detract too much. It would be good if he could bring both though, agreed.

Andy.

Hahaha, yes I took them from a highland division soldier when he surrendered. Yes, carrying all that gear is crap, but that's what friends like you are for....

Recieved this e-mail from Carol-Ann. Will follow up with her and advise about what we are doing.

"Hi David, have been asking Don for weeks to find out the date for the gun show. Someone told him that it was'nt until Nov. Via your email I now know that it is the same weekend as Jamestown. I will ensure that we get on the mailing list for this event as via word of mouth has not worked well in this case. Don had earlier in the year comitted via his M.A.P.S. club to help with displays etc for the gun show. He also has firearms coming with a firearms dealer from intersate for our Miltary Collection. He HAS to be there to collect these firearms as they cannot be collected by anyone else on his behalf. This means that Jamestown is now out of the question for us which is very disappointing. We found out hat it would be illegal to carry troops from here in the studibaker. Don is going to ask a friend if he would be interesed in covering for us at Jamestown. Will advise on that asap. We will give plenty of notice for the photo shoot this summer. At the moment work committments have us working 7 days a week. This is not going to change for 4-6 weeks we feel. Somewher closer to Christmas is going to be a quiter time for us. Doubt that we will have a calendar ready for 2010 as Oct. would be an ideal time to bring it out. We will find out wether closer to Christmas OR autumn would be a better time for your guys as it appears we will be working toward a 2011 calendar. Sorry we are not going to get to Jamestown. It would be spectacular to watch and even better to be part of. Regards, Carol-Ann"
