Hi all,

Those of who were present at the meeting on Sunday 5th April wouldve seen my new DAK uniform from Ant-Z Military (Pirschen). After lengthy chats with Andy, Dan, Brad & Chris regarding the AFRIKAKORPS cuff title, I have been given the go-ahead to sew mine on. Andy did mention to me I would need to run my gear by the Authenticity Officers first. Dan gave his go ahead as he has seen all of my gear, but I am posting pics on here for Brad to peruse as well (not leaving you out Brad!!) Dan has suggested to me in the past to start looking at collecting original gear where possible and I have started to do this.

Here is my dated original 1944 Rucksack:

Here are my new additions: repro Canvas & Leather A-Frame and repro canvas K98 bayonet frog:

Here is my repro field spade, post war mess tin, repro canteen, canvas webbing & belt buckle, breadbag and my original gas mask canister & gas mask stamped 1942.

My helmet, low tropical boots and dust goggles.

My M34 Overseas cap and M41 field cap

My two bobs worth.

Change the white piping to Green for DAK Motorised Infantry (already discussed, but handy as info for later viewers of the message). The piping on the Overseas cap needs positional work (I'll let you know what I mean when I see you next).

Did you give the boots another coat of blanko yet, I think I can still see the under colour showing through in spots? Also, give the leather parts a rub of with some "Dark Tan" boot polish. This will improve the leather colour.

A DAK specific breadbag and Coconut water bottle would be a nice addition for the future.

I'll post some of my stuff to give you an idea of what to strive for ;)

Note the Webbing straps on the A-Frame, and Breadbag etc.

Andy

BTW. DAK specific breadbags are usually available from Tony Miller (Google search Sutlers Store in Australian web sites)

Cool pic Andy, the Tan Zelt looks good.... do you have the Assault bag for your A-frame? I havent attacked the boots again yet, Im hoping to do that this weekend. Im picking up some more of the boot stuffs you gave me, I can then replace what you gave me.... I will get the tropical bottle eventually, same with the breadbag. I dont want to touch the gas mask canister as its an original.

I have an assault bag yes, but like to use that spot for the zelt :) No, I would leave the cannister as it is, but you can get a DAK specific gas cape bag to make it look more DAK :)

The breadbag and Gas Cape bag shouldn't cost much. Another good investment is to buy a heap of repro webbing tornister straps to make the impression look as Tropical as possible :) You will notice, I have a bit of leather on my gear, but mostly webbing stuff.

I cant remove two of my leather straps from my A-frame, theyre pretty much attatched to the frame. But I could get one for the Mess tin..

Yeah, don't panic about getting the leather straps off the A Frame. Yes, you can just change out the one for the Mess kit as you suggested.
