I am in the process of setting up a free website for the club.

http://www.geocities.com/reenactingsa

Still a fair bit of work to do, but basic stuff is up. Send me photos & information that you want added.

Suggestions & feedback most welcome.

Cheers,

David

As a suggestion to the committee for the future, could we look at the changing of the website addy and perhaps going for a paid web address, I know this will stir the pot, its just a thought, but I was thinking it would be cool to have the following addy's:

www.reenactsa.com
www.reenactsa.com.au
www.reenactsa.org

those sorts of things, please no offense to David who has spent an immense amount of time and effort in setting up the web address so far, this is just a thought for the future and we could perhaps subsidise the yearly fee of a web account from the club. Its just a suggestion. *runs and hides*

We will eventually get a paid web site but it will take a bit of time to organise. David and I have already thought about this so I'm sure there would be no offense taken :)

As per Andy's reply. We need to actually have some money to pay for one, and then have someone who will design it.

In the meantime the free one does the job.

BTW, noticed the CHS website was down when I checked the link yesterday.

I have some thoughts with regarding "funds" to pay for said web addy in the future. As I mentioned previously with the printing of shirts and or other things (eg: bandages) and so on, monies from that can go into the club kitty for things like the web address. I also thought we could do something similar in the way it was done for germans not signing up for service, we could have our own labour force that raises money through club donations and events where we have fees and so on for certain things, this is just something Im milling around in my brainbox. I understand at this point we a re but a social club and getting everyone involved to pay for the site may put some noses out of joint and all, but we are all in this together are we not?

I have put a link on the title page of our old site, with a note that we are swapping to the new site, but the the old will remain up for now.

I'm afraid the day of the free web hoster is over. Our Geocities Web Site (the old one that Dave put up) will be taken off air by Geocities when it closes down sometime later this year.

The Free one I found actually plasters adds all over our Banner and the only one program works in designing the website (which won't let me move the banner! Grrr.

The time is come to get a paying site.

I can get one for $75US a year which will give us our own domain name.

That would be approx $5 each per year. Thoughts?

Andy

I might find a cheaper ISP that will do the job if we are lucky ;)
