Back to business.

At the front is the best place to get tropical shoulder boards. You need Panzergrenadier (green ones).

More info soon.

Always check with AtF about shipping costs. They can be quite steep.

Hello All
Thx a lot for everyones input, its much appreciated.
Reenacting opens up a HUGE world of possibilities & options ... and it is confusing ... but with the collective knowledge base that is RSA, I'm confident I'll end up with the right stuff.
Already starting to make selections/purchases now.
Cheers :)

Thx Andy

I'm considering two items from this vendor (Reenactment Bar Hong Kong)
The bread bag & the M35 Helmet US$29.00 P&H includes both items.
Please advise if OK/correct or otherwise where else to buy.

HERE

Hi Keith,

Those cheap helmets always come in really large sizes so just keep an eye out for that. You also (as I think we talked about at the meeting) can't fit a smaller liner because the shell size is also too big. If you can keep an eye out on the web, you can get an original shell pretty cheap if the original paint is gone or overpainted.

As for the breadbag, it's not too bad, although like a lot of the repros i've seen, made undersize (to save money I guess??). Here's an excellent article on breadbags:

No worries. When you get your gear, we can help you look more authentic. No matter how much you pay, reproductions are usually made using different, more modern and/or cheaper techniques. Especially true with leather items, but there are a few tricks to fix it so they look identical with original.

That breadbag looks fine. I wouldn't hesitate to get that one. Regarding the helmet, what head size are you? Measure around your head just above your eyebrows (about a 1cm above). In centimeters, the Hong Kong Helmets will fit a 59cm to 60cm head. If you are smaller (like me), we can find a helmet for you on Ebay, I'm sure.

You should NEVER antique your equipment!!! We are reenactors reenacting in the 1940's...not playing with 1940's gear in 2009....it looks stupid! It should look used, not 80 years old! Just a thought is all....

If you wear a size 59/60 helmet, the chinese ones are fine. Those DAK ankle boots are good as well.

The canteens are also ok. This guy is a great dealer, but he doesnt take many payment options. You will have ask him how to pay.

Craig, I wasn't talking about antiquing the gear, i'm talking about making them look like they were produced in the 1940's, not with new age materials and techniques. That's why repro gear always looks so, well "farby"

Thats why if you wear it in Brendon, it dont look so farby no more. I'd rather have a farby piece of equipment anyday than one that collapses on the field from either old age or being "altered" to look used....
