The first 33 seconds is pretty much identical to ww2 drill.

The rest of it is bubblegum chewing gangster propaganda

Yes, it might well be...but the question is...can anyone in this club actually do that? I know if I could do that and make it look that good, I wouldnt care what anyone called me. I msure Ive seen a WW2 training video somewhere...cant think for the life of me where, but they were teaching them some of those spinning tricks as well, from what I can gather it was so the soldier would be more "in tune" with his weapon...or it could be just to get the fraulein! Ha-ha!!

If you can do the first 33 seconds well, people will be impressed ;)

The great thing about watching the video is that it has made my rifle drill better. I did not know that your right hand stayed on the rifle and was dropped only after the rifle was in the final Ober position (checking the drill manual has confirmed this). Also was the timings correct. Or is it a post war thing with the delay between the different parts of Ober? I thought that you have nil delays while going to the Ober?

I do not think the timing and movement is correct. The spacings between the movements are too pronounced, as they are in the USMC (compare to the film "Full Metal Jacket" when the US Marines are practising rifle drill).
Compare this with 1930s/40s footage of Germans doing drill, where the timing and movement is much smoother and less stilted.
There has been clearly a bit of American-inspired alteration to some of this drill. They are obviously bored and copying the USMC drill team. Like many soldiers in peacetime armies, they have too much time on their hands (I know, I did this once too, when I was younger and had plenty of someone else's time on my hands).
The first 10 seconds (the "normalerweise" segment) is ok, but remember this is post war drill, influenced by occupying forces. Case in point; they are wearing berets, a distinctively non-Germanic item of headdress.
The value of this film is for your amusement.

Still the video did help. the part about the keeping the right hand on the rifle until you are at the Ober i did not know. the drill manual on dererstezug shows this to be so. i have nil idea why i never picked it up?

i was just watching it before reading your post. I was using http://www.dererstezug.com/RifleDrill.htm as my ref. I see that they have different movments as well as a deleys for present arms and going back to Ober after present arms. I was thinking it could be a sort of post war Garand, G3, 98K drill hibrid before I read you reply? Still who knows for sure?

Main thing is if it's post war we do not need to worry.
